Our Roots

This is the story of how Jason McCoy founded Landcare Solutions.

It began with one realtor named Modell Schuler.  She asked Jason's Dad if Jason wanted to earn some money over the summer while one of her listings in Dayton, Ohio was vacant.  Jason gladly accepted.  He and his parents worked all day each Saturday throughout the summer mowing and fertilizing the lawn, trimming the shrubs, and mulching and weeding the flower beds.  It was then that he realized he enjoyed working hard, being outside, and seeing the tangible results of his labor.

The next summer, he invested his profits in his own lawn mower and began doing the lawn care for a few neighbors’ homes, before he could even drive!  Jason continued to grow his landscaping business and when he graduated from Troy High School in 2002, was faced with a decision.  His parents were adamant about him earning a college degree; he wanted to continue to grow his flourishing business.  Being the entrepreneur he is, he chose both.  He attended Miami University in Oxford, Ohio until December 2005 and earned a bachelors degree in accounting.  All the while, he took classes full time and drove back and forth as many as four times a week to run and grow the business.

After Jason graduated, he was again faced with a decision; what to do in the next chapter of life.  By that time, his love for the industry and passion for landscaping and lawn care was evident.  His choice was easy.  He officially formed Landcare Solutions, LLC and continued with his career of caring for his clients and their lawn and landscapes.  Being a young man, he sought a way to demonstrate his landscape knowledge, proficiency, and business ethics; he wanted his commitment to his business and clients to be obvious.  He accomplished all that, and more, when he earned his PLANET Certified Landscape Professional certification, an accomplishment no one else in Miami County has yet repeated.

Today, Jason continues to grow Landcare Solutions' capabilities and client base almost daily; the entire Landcare Solutions team continues to delight clients with lawn, landscape and snow services that are on time and on budget.
